History

The predecessor of our company, Amano Manufacturing, was established in 1931 as a manufacturer of time recorders and time stamps. However, during World War II, it was transformed into a munitions factory and was shut down when the war ended. On November 22, 1945 the company was re-established as a successor with the purpose of inheriting the time recorder department business.

Here is the main timeline of the company’s history.

1945 Company is established as Yokohama Equipment Corparation.
Time recorder and time stamp manufacturing begins
1951 The research and manufacturing of industrial vacuum cleaners commence
1956 Company merges with Amano Special Equipment Corporation and is renamed to Amano Special Equipment Corporation.
1961 Amano is listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange
1964 Amano Time Systems, Inc. is established as a subsidiary in New York City, USA. (Renamed to Amano America Inc. on January 1, 1977)
1966 Company is renamed to AMANO Corporation
Computer employment management system ARECODATA is released
1967 Amano is listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange
1970 Tōkai Amano Co., Ltd is established as a subsidiary and is trusted with the manufacturing responsibilities of the Hosoe Factory (established in April 1969 in Hosoe-cho, Inasa-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture (today rezoned to Kita-ku, Hamamatsu-shi))
1972 Amano Europe N.V. is established as a subsidiary in Brussels, Belgium
1972 Amano is listed on the First Section of the Osaka Stock Exchange
1973 Parking lot management equipment is released
1979 Amano America Manufacturing, Inc. is established as a subsidiary in Anaheim, California
Manufacturing of time recorders and time stamps for the Americas begins
1980 Computerized time recorder INTERECORDER is released
1982 Cleaning equipment is released
1987 Tsukui Factory is established in Tsukui-cho, Tsukui-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture (today rezoned to Midori-ku, Sagamihara-shi)

1989 Amano Electronics Europe N.V. is established as a subsidiary in Genk, Belgium (Renamed to Amano Europe N.V. on July 1, 2007 and is currently a consolidated subsidiary)
1989 Amano America Manufacturing, Inc. acquires and merges with Amano America, Inc. and is renamed to Amano Electronics of America, Inc.
1990 Amano International USA, Inc. is established in Delaware, USA for the purpose of becoming a holding company (Renamed to Amano USA, Inc. on January 9, 1998 and to Amano USA Holdings, Inc. on April 18, 2006. Currently a consolidated subsidiary)
1990 Amano acquires a US company Pioneer Eclipse Corporation (manufacturer and distributor of cleaning equipment and chemicals) through the US holding company (Renamed to Amano Pioneer Eclipse Corporation on June 28, 2006 and is currently a consolidated subsidiary)
1990 Amano Electronics Europe N.V. acquires and merges with Amano Europe N.V.
1991 Amano Corporation merges with subsidiary Tōkai Amano Co., Ltd
1991 Amano acquires a US company Cincinnati Time, Inc. (manufacturer and distributor of time recorders and time management equipment as well as parking system equipment) through the US holding company
1992 Cincinnati Time, Inc. merges with Amano Electronics of America, Inc. and is renamed to Amano Cincinnati, Inc.

1995 Amano International Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is established in China as a subsidiary (distributor of time recorders, information system equipment and environmental equipment)

1997 ATAS Services, Pte. Ltd. is established in Singapore as an affiliated company (contractor of cleaning services and parking lot management services) (Liquidated on May 19, 2008)
1998 PT. Amano Indonesia is established in Indonesia as a subsidiary (distributor of time information system equipment and environmental system equipment)

2007 Amano Corporation acquires the business rights for car and bicycle parking lot equipment business from OMRON T.A.S. Co., Ltd.
2007 Amano acquires a US company Terry McGann and Associates, Inc. through the US holding company and renames it Amano McGann, Inc.

2008 Amano acquires the following French companies through the European holding company: Horosmart S.A. and its subsidiary Horoquartz S.A. (merges with A.C.G.P Investissement SARL and three subsidiaries on February 6, 2016), Horoquartz Morocco S.A., Pial Technology S.A. (merged with Horoquartz S.A. on January 1, 2013), Omnibadges S.A. (merges with Scopus S.A. on January 1, 2009 and is renamed Scopus Omnibadges S.A.S.. Sold to Scopus Finance S.A.S. on February 3, 2015), and Scopus S.A. (merged with Omnibadges S.A. on January 1, 2009)

2010 The minority interests of Amano Management Service Corporation and three others, which are consolidated domestic subsidiaries, are bought back by Amano Corporation for 100% ownership.
2013 Amano Corporation acquires a portion of Creo Co., Ltd. (Currently an affiliate company under the equity method)
2013 Amano Parking Service Ltd. is established in Hong Kong as a subsidiary (contractor of parking lot management services)

The development of various time information system equipment and environmental system equipment have continued throughout the years, in addition to establishing operational offices across the country and expanding sales and distribution networks.
